The NEW Sinus Infection Treatment You Haven’t Heard About Yet (Works better than antibiotics!)

What many people don’t know is that these drugs could actually make the underlying problem become even worse.

You may be confuse about this fact. How can a drug use to treat the sinus infection aggravate the problem? The reason is because antibiotic kills all bacteria in your nasal passages, including the good one. The nasal cavity needs the good bacteria to protect it against the buildup bacteria. So if there’s no good bacteria left, means nothing left to protect the nasal passage.

To solve this problem, Dr. Mas Takashima, the director of Sinus Center at Baylor College of Medicine is developing new therapies with the purpose of reducing symptoms and also fight the sinus infections. What surprising about the therapy is that it includes probiotic nasal rinse and baby shampoo sinus irrigation.

Takashima explain that the therapies are using ways in targeting bacteria that have never been used in the past. He also said that the technique can help people with chronic and acute sinusitis. He continues by saying how the patients were surprised when he first told them about the therapeutic protocols but in the end, they got the result they need.

How Do The Therapies Work?

Takashima explains that baby shampoo irrigation concept is aiming to clean up the nasal cavity with surfactant. The shampoo will break the oily layers which prevent the bad bacteria from being wiped away. This is a barrier that cannot be penetrate by a regular saline irrigation. Surprisingly baby shampoo can do it.

Takashima said that it actually work the same way as how the children wash their hand with soap to clean bacteria from their hands. So actually the concept can also be applied in sinuses.

To get the most effective result, every 8 ounces of saline must contain a half teaspoon of shampoo.  You can make your own saline by mixing 1 rounded teaspoon of baking soda with 3 heaping teaspoon of salt and store it in a small Ziplock bag. You can then add half teaspoon of baby shampoo and 1 teaspoon of the mixture you made before to 8 ounces of lukewarm distilled or boiled water.

You can use infant nasal bulb or a rubber earbud syringe to draw the solution, then flush your nostril with it gently.

Add a probiotic rinse to prevent recurrence and replenish the healthy bacteria. You can use the same instruction to create a saline solvent. The difference is, you will be adding a probiotic capsule’s content into the solution instead of baby shampoo.

Takashima said that he realized that something happened that cause a change in patient’s ability to fight sinus infection after hearing the patients told him that they were having trouble to shake the sinus even after a multiple course of antibiotic.

He said probiotic can be really helpful to replenish the good bacteria. It also useful to prevent the bad bacteria from coming again and infected the sinuses.

Since there are many different cause of sinus infection, Takashima advice to consult to the doctor before trying the irrigation at home. That way, you can make sure that you are treating the right cause.
